Welcome to Deshan az (Дешан Аз) website, a specialized website in teaching the Chechen language to English and Arabic speakers.
The website currently presents the first and second phases of our educational project, which aims to teach reading, writing and speaking of the Chechen language;
it starts with the alphabet and ends with the grammars and advanced lessons.
The first phase (Alphabet) focuses on teaching how to read and pronounce correctly, while the second phase (Phrases) provides simple, yet important phrases for daily use.

The Chechen language (Нохчийн мотт) one of the oldest languages in Caucasus, which is affiliated to the "Nakh" group of languages. It is a pure Caucasian language whereas its morphological grammar was not affected by the non-Caucasian languages thousands years ago. It is a beautiful language, rich of words, and has a sharp tune; it can express your feelings very clearly.
The Chechen language went through several stages of evolution like other ancient languages. It was written by hieroglyphics symbols and cuneiform. In the modern era, after Islam arrived to Chechnya it was written by Arabic alphabet, and in 1923 it was written by the Latin alphabet until 1938, when it started to be written by Slavic alphabet till now.
Chechen speakers population currently are in the Chechen Republic, as well as citizens from Chechen origin in Middle East countries (Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Turkey), Europe and other countries.
